Wonder Boy

Carolina All Day sits down with one of Greenboro's premiere producers in the game today, Wonder Boy. We chop it up and get in the mind of one of the hottest in the Carolinas. Enjoy.

CAD: Where are you from?

WONDER: I'm from Greensboro NC Born and raised

CAD: When did you know you wanted to produce music for other artists?

WONDER: I had always been a producer but I think I really wanted to start makin beats when I was 16 I did some stuff for a friend

CAD: Who were some of your early influences?

WONDER: Some of my early influences were my dad he is the church musician and pastor..my brother Gav Beats he taught me a lot..Timbaland is a big influence as well as Kanye and Jus Blaze

CAD: What equipment do you normally use when making a beat?

WONDER: I am a product of the computer generation so I use FL(Fruity Loops) as well as reason though I have worked with the Motif and The Fantom

CAD: Do you feel the Internet is a good or bad thing for hip hop in the future?

WONDER: I feel that the internet is the future of music just because it is easy access for anyone anywhere and it will make the music that much more easy to distribute and listen to and it will also help business run faster

CAD: You have won the Dirty South BeatDown (Beat Battle) in Greensboro, NC. What separates your music from other producers?

WONDER: Well actually I haven't won the Dirty South Beatdown but I have won the Battle for Beats Beat Battle in Wilmington and I am the two time reigning champion but I feel what seperates me from others is my ability to find the craziest samples with my limited resources and my ability to find things in records that make them that much hotter. Also my drum patterns are very different and I try and use not so traditional sounding kicks snares hats. I am also very young but my learning curve is amazing if I must say..all I need to do is see something made and I can pretty much replicate it I think those things are really my edge

CAD: Have you collaborated with any Carolina artists?

WONDER: Yes I have worked with Gav Beats and Ethemadassassin, J White, Ricky Ruckus

CAD: What projects are you currently working on?
