Billionz

You know the name.....A O!!! You heard the call...G'z Up!!!! Carolina All Day caught up with AOG member and Winston native, Billionz, aka Beast Billionz, to chop it up about it all. As part of one of the most prolific and lyrically insane groups this great state has to offer, Billionz had made his mark through all angles of the game - Radio, Internet, Video, Awards...With that kind of resume we can only wait to see what's next for the AOG star. Enjoy.

CAD: Where are you from?

Billionz: I was born in New York , But I lived in Winston Salem, NC for most of my life. So im a full time Tre 4 representer.

CAD: Tell us a little about yourself...

Billionz: Young artist out of NC, just trying to help put an identity to my state's hip hop scene. Im not just trying to put myself on, Im workin for my team, my city, my state, and family.

CAD: When did you decide to pursue music as a full time career?

Billionz: I think around 2004, when I started getting a name for myself. We as AOG were putting out mixtapes heavy, and seen this could possibly to be a way for us to follow our dreams.

CAD: Who were some of your early musical influences?

Billionz: When I was younger I was a huge Big Daddy kane fan. As i got older just became a Jay-Z Fan. Its crazy even though I was raised in NC, my music influence is basically from the east coast. Im a fan of all hip hop at the end of the day.

CAD: How did you connect with the other members of AOG?

Billionz: I’m actually one of the founding members of AOG. I been rapping with Ricky Ruckus and Glueazy since I was 13 yrs old. We just been grinding together ever since. To me thats what makes us more of a family than a group. AOG has become one of the biggest movements NC has ever seen. Alot of that goes to hard work put in by Rick Ruck.

CAD: You won "Lyricist of the Year" at the 2010 North Carolina Underground Music Awards. Why is being lyrical important to you as an artist?

Billionz: All my music influences were very lyrical artist. I feel like if im not inspiring someone or not saying anything thought provoken, then Im cheating the listeners. At some point there has to be message in our music. I also want to bring the rewind factror back in music. There isnt too many artist that make rewind to hear what they said. I want to bring that back.

CAD: Have you collaborated with any other Carolina artists or producers?

Billionz: As Far as artist Ive worked with Joe Scudda, Chaundon, Sean Boog. All out HOJ. Xclusive Generals out of High Point. As far as producers Ive worked with Khrysis, Apple Juice kid, Chophouze, Conrizzle, Showdown, and Marshall Law.

CAD: What Carolina artists do you want to work with in the future?

Billionz: I dont really get to listen to too many NC artist like i would like, but there are a couple cats out here I rock with. I like Gully Mack music. I think he's dope. Im a Little Brother fan also. Rain and Small World are also 2 dudes that make records.

CAD: What projects are you currently working on?

Billionz: Be on the lookout for DM2, which it a follow up to my last mixtape Deprivation Manual. I was gonna rush it and throw it out there after I won the award, but decided to take my time and give out all original music. AOG as a whole been workin on alot of music together.
